Bitcoin is just a passing fad.
Obviously, I don’t actually believe the title of this article, but I did see a newspaper clipping online today that had stated ‘The Internet may just be a passing fad’. It really got me thinking about why the public perception of technology is always so skewed from the generation that brings it in. As someone who has had the internet around in more of their lifetime than not, I can’t imagine at any point of my online experience thinking that it was just a fad.
Even when it took me an hour to download a .gif file, I was 100% in. I feel the same way about bitcoin. If you take the time to look at what the technology does and come to the conclusion that it is a fad, please send me an email or message and explain it to me.
Bitcoin and the internet both solve different problems and do very different things, but they are both society-changing principal technologies that I believe will move us forward to more transparent, and fair times. Neither technology is perfect, but if you look at what life was like before them, and you look at the dearth of opportunities that used to be afforded to lower class families prior, I believe you should come to the conclusion that these are tools that create a greater degree of fairness in the world.
